American Freak Show: The Completely Fabricated Stories of Our New National Treasures by Willie Geist kept me going on the plane ride(s) to DC and back. Much better than an Enquirer, because at least you know up front you’re reading all lies… or are you?

Confession #1: I had never been to DC before. No school trips ever found me visiting the nation’s capitol, and that city never made it’s way onto my family’s vacation destination lists either.

Confession #2: I do believe that DC will be the next city I live in.

I’ll keep this post short since it’s mostly just a life update, but from Thursday to Monday, I had a blast meeting Blakeley’s roommate, spending time with our friend who came in from NYC, Rachel, shopping at the Tyson’s Corner, the greatest mall I’ve ever been to (choosing my words wisely as I do plan on visiting the Mall of America one day), sightseeing and eating the most delicious food from all the amazing restaurants in DC. I also thoroughly enjoyed myself at the cutest Gator bar in DC watching the Gators kick some butt!

I got my first Blackberry July 2008, and was quickly enamored. However, my love for AT&T is not the same. I’m thinking it’s the feeling that some people have when they really dislike a potential mother-in-law. You have to wonder if it’s worth it, and if you want to deal with it?

Well, let me say, if this was a person, I’d cut the cord! However, I am now losing the initial lust for my Blackberry and am looking for an upgrade – seeking version 2.0. So I turn to you my readers, or reader, who knows at this point since I so rarely update…

That said, if you had the option… would you choose the iPhone or the new Blackberry Torch?

Third option would be to not upgrade at all, and get away from AT&T, but clearly I am putting this at the bottom because I’m a sucker…

We’re going to rewind quite a bit for this one, and jump back to the start of Gator Football season. I suppose it’s better than fast forwarding to the end, because who wants Gator football to end, right?

This fall marks the first football season since 2005 that I haven’t been in Gainesville to kick off what I like to call “The Most Wonderful Time of Year.” Well, me and the rest of the Gator Nation call it that of course!

So, to keep with tradition as much as possible, Heath and I took off to the best place that any Gator could call be on gamedays – besides The Swamp – our favorite little slice of Gainesville, known as “625.”

Our friends have lived in 625 for quite a few years, and being there always proves to be a good time. Without any tickets, watching the game with the crowd at 625 can be just as exciting as in the stadium, but this weekend, we got tickets from an alum who was selling them for cheap!

It was crazy hot, and sadly, it was a pretty rough first half, even though we were playing Miami University of Ohio.

We left the game and headed back to the A/C and cold beer – but not without a stop at Tijuana Flats for my chips and queso (per usual after games) and a stop at Pita Pit (per Heath’s request).

All in all, we spent a great weekend at some old stompin’ grounds, enjoyed some time in the Swamp, caught up with friends and the weekend flew by too quickly! I can’t for the Florida vs. LSU game to get back to Gainesville and see my Gators dominate those Tigers!!

1. Any LBD that makes you look double hot, even if it costs double $$.
2. You gut – whether it’s telling you to have your tires checked or growling for a burger.
3. A b-day invitation from anyone under 8, or over 80.
4. Mom’s offer of the family china, christening gown or well-worn game of Life, even if you can’t yet foresee a time when you’ll want it.
5. Whipped cream with that.
6. Hotel sex: just plain sexier.
7. An interview for a huge job you think you don’t have a snowballs chance i hell of getting.
8. A close friend who needs you to listen.

Thank you to an old Glamour magazine that I pulled these from. Personally, I liked #5 and #8 best, and felt that sometimes, maybe they go hand in hand. As for #6, a little scandalous for my regular blogging taste, but I suppose I have to throw you for a loop every now and again, huh?

July rolled around and something about not being surrounded with dozens of friends from high school or college meant that my birthday celebration would be a little modified this year.  And while spinning the wheels in my head, I thought, why does it have to be about me at all anyway?

Technically, a birthday is a celebration of another year of life. Another year of mistakes to learn from and successes to look back on. And truly, it’s a celebration that your mother went through nine months of crazy hormones, bizarre eating patterns and leaps in clothing sizes just to spend hours in the hospital waiting for you to arrive. So instead of everyone spending 24 hours focused on my 23 years of life, I have made it my birthday wish that my friends and family focus their attention to those in need.

While everyone has been asking what my plans are, or what I want, I really haven’t had a definitive answer until now. So, my birthday plan is to challenge you, my family, friends and readers (who probably fall into the first two categories anyways) to choose a charity that means something special to you. I want you to then donate any amount of money to that charity that you can spare. Even if it’s $5, you will do more than you know. Every little dollar counts!

So, starting this birthday, I will begin a new tradition in my life, to take my special day and share that feeling with charities across the globe with your help.

I will be choosing the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. It holds a special place in the heart of my family, and if you have no ties to another organization, I would love you to take part in raising money for MS patients. Donate here.
